L.A. Confidential - Ebook written by James Ellroy. Read this book using Google Play Books app on your PC, android, iOS devices. Download for offline reading, highlight, bookmark or take notes while you read L.A. Confidential. L.A. Confidential holds enough plots for two or three books: the cops chase stolen gangland heroin through a landscape littered with not-always-innocent corpses while succumbing to sexy sirens who have been surgically resculpted to resemble movie stars; a vile developer--based (unfairly) on Walt Disney-- schemes to make big bucks off Moochie 4/5().

Confidential was a key magazine of the s, a monthly that sold millions of copies with its seamy exposes of celebrity drugs and sex. I found it on my dad's night table and read it breathlessly, the stories of reefer parties, multiple divorces, wife-swapping and "leading men'' who liked to wear frilly undergarments. The magazine sank in a sea of lawsuits, but it created a genre; the trash. The MAYOR yanks a cloth to reveal a MODEL of L.A. criss-crossed by an elaborate FREEWAY SYSTEM. The CROWD oohs. A COUNCILMAN claps. A SOCIETY MATRON nods her approval. PIERCE PATCHETT, 50, tuxedoed, watches off to one side. A behind-the-scenes power broker, Patchett exudes authority much more so than the Mayor does. MAYOR The Arroyo Seco.

Hanté par la réussite de son " incorruptible " de père, il est prêt à payer n'importe quel prix par parvenir. There is a trend, apparently, to make series romances hotter and hotter – in response to reader demand, I assume. Well hotter does not necessarily mean better, and L. A. Confidential is a case in point. Hot is nice; I like hot. But not at the expense of the other elements I look for in a good book. Part of my disappointment with this book was that the beginning was so good.
